Everyone likes a good mystery right?
Well Numbers chapter 3 starts with a bit of a mystery that we can discuss.
Verse 1 begins "These are the descendants of Aharon and Moshe as of the day when ADONAI spoke with Moshe on Mount Sinai." Then verse 2 states "The names of the sons of Aharon are: Nadav the firstborn, Avihu, El'azar and Itamar." Verse 3 goes on "These were the names of the sons of Aharon the cohen, whom he anointed and ordained as cohanim."
The mystery is: Where are the sons of Moshe listed? We know he had children so why aren’t they listed? I’ll tell you one line of thought on this is that this is a list of the physical sons of Aharon and what the text is inferring is that they had also become spiritual sons of Moshe; much like the teacher/student relationship that developed between Timothy and Rav Shaul.
One of my old teachers would always be reminding us that no matter how long we had been following Y’shua, or how our walk was going someone was watching us and to them we were teachers. To them we represented Him (Y’shua).
It’s a very sobering thought isn’t it?
So who is watching you; and more importantly, what are they learning from you? Are you representing Him well? Are you being a good example?
